maths lesson on Friday has been changed from 1.20pm-2.30pm to 12.10pm-1.20pm (currently our double break) after this suggestion received strong support from the class. Mr Chia has agreed to change the timing so that our class is pushed forward.
Maths TextbookRemember to bring Maths Textbook on TuesdayMaintanence of Air-ConThere have been suggestions regarding the various ways to ensure our class air-con is maintained properly. Here's a summary of some of the suggestions so far:
Proposed solution 1: Physical ActionSuperglue (or some sort of method to prevent people from setting the temperature/fan speed to low or high respectively) for Air-Con Control
Pros
1) Visitors into our class will be unable to take advantage of our class air-con by setting it to an extremely low temperature/high fan speed. As such, we do not need to worry so much about other people visting our class during after-school hours. Thus, the air-con will not overwork and as a result, will not spoil due to prolong exposure to being overworked.
2) With a fixed temperature/fan speed that everyone is agreeable to, the classroom will not be freezing cold.
3) A suggested fixed temperature is 15 degree celsius; fan speed 2 (although somewhere between 20-25 degrees celsius seems more feasible)
Cons1) We do not own the air-con control. Applying superglue without consultation from authority in school (eg - Ms Sandhya) may be considered vandalism.
2) Over time, the air-con will not be as efficient as now (ie - 15 Degrees now will result in different environmental conditions now and in the future)
Solution 2: Educate the masses1) Stop leaving all the doors open - cultivate good habit.
2) Put signs on every door reminding people to close the door upon leaving the classroom (and also, not to little the class)
3) Find a way to unlock the back 2 doors (therefore, girls and guys coming in from the toilets will not need to leave the back door of the class open) - regarding this suggestion, the school's opinion must be sought as we're dealing with school property.
Proposal to fix the front of the fan once and for allThere have been suggestions regarding the various ways to fix a problem the school deemed as being long-term (ie: the front fan). Here are some suggestions:
Put oil on fanResponsesa) It's better to let the repairman fix the fan. If later we put the oil on the fan and it becomes too slippery, it is possible for it to drop down. Therefore, we die.
b) Not sure what type of oil to use
c) Kai Liang suggested taking a look at the fan in the morning and see if it's possible to oil it ourselves. The good point about this is that we do not need to wait a prolong period of time for the repairman to finally come, dignose the problem and solve it.
